ABRomics stakeholders meeting : a day shaped by innovation
The annual meeting of ABRomics stakeholders was held on February 3, 2026, at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. The ABRomics Steering Committee and team members discussed a packed agenda combining scientific presentations, technical demonstrations, and strategic discussions on the future of the ABRomics platform.
The ABRomics user and stakeholder committee is composed of representatives from various ministries (Research, Agriculture, and Health), Santé Publique France, ANSES, Inserm, the Promise network, and the PPR antibiotic resistance network.
Chaired by ABRomics co-coordinators Claudine Médigue and Philippe Glaser, this new stakeholder meeting aimed to present all the features implemented in the ABRomics platform, ongoing developments for future versions of the platform, the overall progress of the project, and to discuss the sustainability of ABRomics.
The first part of the meeting was focused on presenting the genomic version of the ABRomics platform, which is now in production. The ABRomics team reviewed the history of the platform’s development before demonstrating its features, which are now fully functional. This demonstration was followed by a presentation on the short-term prospects for the genomic version’s development.
The meeting continued with presentations on ongoing developments, including the preparation of the metagenomic version of ABRomics (v2), work on the use of ontologies and knowledge graphs, and the implementation of pan-genomic and meta-pan-genomic approaches, which are major axes of development for the platform’s future evolution. A highlight was also focused on the results of use case 1 ABRomics (WP4) “Detection and investigations of outbreaks involving multidrug-resistant bacteria” with two presentations: one on the genomic surveillance of Campylobacter strains in 2024 (Q. Jehanne, CNR Helicobacter/Campylobacter) and one on the transmission of bacteria in an intensive care unit (P. Glaser).
Discussions continued on communication, dissemination, and assistance with platform adoption by users from diverse backgrounds. Financial management was also presented, along with a financial overview of the project.
The end of the meeting was spent discussing the platform’s prospects and its long-term future. A discussion between the members of the Stakeholder Committee was followed by feedback from the committee to the ABRomics team. The team was unanimously congratulated for all the progress made during the year and for taking into account the recommendations made at the previous meeting. The areas for improvement raised by the committee mainly concern the implementation of actions to enhance the platform’s visibility (expanding the target communities, widely distributing the ABRomics Newsletter) and increase the number of users.
